Formerly known as #OK2TALK, #OK2ACT is the next step in working to improve the mental health system in Palm Beach County. Utlizing the results from a series of Town Hall Meetings and the feedback from the #OK2TALK Conference the #OK2ACT planning comminttee is working towards implementing an action plan that will result in change.
When we think about cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, we don’t wait years to treat them. We start way before Stage 4. We begin with prevention. And when people are in the first stage of those diseases, and have a persistent cough, high blood pressure, or high blood sugar, we try immediately to reverse these symptoms. This is what we should be doing when people have serious mental illnesses, too.
The Mental Health Association is always in need of volunteers. There are many different types of opportunities available.
If you are interested in working in a primary healthcare setting but are not sure where to start, apply for our innovative training and internship program. This training program is for both existing and new mental health professionals. You will have the opportunity to take part in a new initiative introducing integrative healthcare to primary care settings in Palm Beach County. As a trainee, you will conduct behavioral health screenings, provide brief interventions and offer referral resources for clients in need of services. Student applicants who are currently studying mental health counseling, school counseling, family therapy, social work, occupational therapy or nursing are also welcome to apply and can obtain clinical internship and/or licensure hours.
It is not without the support of our members that the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County is able to sustain its programs and provide the services listed on our website. For more information on the perks of becoming a member please click here.
